SlantedMagazine #34-Europe
In the 34th issue of Slanted (2019), the focus is on the European Union and its 28 member states during challenging times – financial crises, refugees, loss of allies, and exit scenarios like the UK's, leading to fear and insecurity. This issue calls for a vibrant, multi-faceted Europe amidst the rise of right-wing politics, nationalism, and hate speech.
My contribution is a poster depicting the EU as a metaphorical grinder, symbolizing National Populism, which, though intending to unify, often divides and alienates.
Inspired by Matthew Goodwin's book 'National Populism: The Revolt Against Liberal Democracy,' it highlights the urgent need for rehumanization in a world divided by walls, borders, race, gender, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs.
